I am surprised at how many people still don’t understand diabetes. What the difference between the different types are, how you manage it, what you can eat! Sugar free does not mean that it is diabetic friendly. Sugar is shown on labels as carbs. That is what a diabetic counts for what they need to dose for.
Share your knowledge about diabetes today!
On another note, the insulin pump is going well. She has been so excited just to dose with the push of a button.
Medicaly Mom
I am not a medical professional, just a mom of four kids. I didn't realize that one day I would be dealing with ADHD, sezuires, diabetes, congenital heart disease, autism/aspergers and other regular things encountered by a mother.

This was my second tank top attempt. The first I did down lower and she did not like the way it hung on her. It was also right where her hand would swing. This one I did a little bit higher and right under the arm area.
I started with a button hole so she can loop her tube through.
Then I made a pocket.
Then I put a flap on the top to help keep it in.

Our newest adventure is an insulin pump. We just recently got one and are very excited to get started. So far we have tried it with saline and love the fact that we will have less poking. What things have you done to help with carrying and sleeping with your pump? I plan to make a tank top with a pocket to hold it. Has anyone tried and had success? I will let you know how we do.
Getting started
I have thought about a site like this for several years. When I became pregnant with my four child I learned that she had serious heart issues. Within a years worth of time, one child got type 1 diabetes, another I found out had been having seizures, and I would be responsible for taking care of it all. I never wanted anything to do with the medical profession and here I was in charge of all these things. The one thing that became the biggest help was the internet. All the questions I had, and the instructions I forgot, or things I panicked about I found on the internet. I felt that I wanted to share my experience with others, and maybe make it easier to find things that might be helpful.
Whatever the heath problem is that you are dealing with, I encourage you to find a support group. I could not have made it through without the Facebook groups I became a part of. My goal is to help provide links and support for all types of things. If you have something that has helped you through, please share it.
